Local government is the level of governance that is closest to the people, especially, people at the grassroot. The success and failure of government at this level has the most immediate impact on the lives of the people.
It is on this premise and his determination to serve his people that Hon Semiu Bola Lawal, the Chairman, Transition Committee, Odeda Local Government assumed office after being sworn in precisely one year ago by His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR, the Executive Governor of Ogun State.
The first 365 days of every administration is often regarded as very tasking and important, this was why the Hon Lawal’s led administration has left no stone unturned in delivering dividends of democracy to his people to compliment the efforts of Prince Dapo Abiodun’s led administration in the state.
In the last one year, the administration of Hon Semiu Bola Lawal has brought finesse, dynamism and purpose to governance through several laudable projects and programmes aimed purposely at improving the socio-economic well-being of residents of the local government.
The Council boss, speaking recently in his office concerning his achievements in the last one year noted that he is re-defining grassroot’s governance in Ogun State.
Projects highlighted by Hon. Lawal as part of his achievements include, construction of a block of 40 open stalls, 16 lock up shops and 20 open stalls at Gbonagun, Osiele and Kila Markets respectively, construction of Police post at Bakatari Eleso and drilling of boreholes at Papa Oja and Aigbede villages. Others include stocking of the local government poultry with 400 point of lay birds, distribution of free face masks, reconstruction of a block of 20 open stalls at Odeda Market and opening of a new medical laboratory at Osiele Heath Centre.
The Council helmsman, however, expressed his appreciation to the Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun MFR for giving him the opportunity to serve his people while thanking members of the Transition Committee for their unalloyed cooperation. He equally thanked all the staff members, traditional, political and religious leaders as well as the entire people of the Local Government Area for their support for his administration.
