Mrs Abiodun Flags Off Routine Immunization in Igbogila

Nursing mothers in Ogun state have been advised to avail their children between the age of 0-5 the opportunity of free immunization readily available at all the Primary Health Centers in the state.

The wife of the Ogun state Governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun gave this advice at the flag off ceremony of the Routine Immunization Intensification Project organized by the Ogun state Primary Health Care Development Board held at the Yewa North Local Government Primary Health Care Center, Igbogila, Yewa.

Mrs. Abiodun said it had become necessary for all to take the welfare of the children seriously even from the cradle emphasizing the importance of immunization in eradicating preventable diseases among infants.

She said it was observed that about 65% of children in 16 of the 20 Local Government Areas of the state were not immunized in 2019 stating that the present administration would intensify efforts at bridging the gap observed.

She reiterated government’s commitment towards upgrading the existing Primary Health Care Centers in all Local Government Areas of the state within the shortest possible time adding that free health care delivery would also be ensured.

Mrs. Abiodun, while acknowledging and appreciating Procter and Gambler Company, Nigeria for giving free Pampers Diapers to the babies also commended other developmental partners for their continued support for the state at ensuring maternal and child health.

The Director, Global Government Relations for Africa, Procter and Gambler Company, Nigeria, Dr. (Mrs.) Temitope Iluyemi earlier in her remark commended the Ogun state government for prioritizing and improving maternal and child health in the state noting that it was a good step in the right direction.

She expressed the Company’s readiness and commitment towards touching the lives of over 10,000 children in the state by giving them free Pampers Diapers as a way of supporting the present administration at improving maternal and child health in the state.
