Gov Abiodun’s Aide, Lawal, Others visit Ogun FRSC boss, Ahmed

...seeks understanding for youths

The Special Assistant to Ogun State Governor on Youth and Sports, Comrade Olamide Lawal, has pleaded for understanding of the officers and men of the Federal Road Safety Corps in Ogun State , especially when handling cases involving youths in the state.

He explained that every youth has some exuberances that are natural and common, hence the need for Road safety officials to handle them with some level of understanding.

He stated this when he reached out to the Sector Commander in his Office, in Abeokuta, the State capital.

Lawal who was on the visit with the Liason Committee of the APC Youth League, Ogun State Coordinate, noted that his visit was to strengthen the relationship between the Corps and the youth Constituency in the state.

According to him, ‘ the Road Safety Corps was established for the safety of everyone, therefore it is important to partner with them on the enlightenment and understanding of road users, especially the youths”.

The Coordinator acknowledged the efforts of the Corps, maintaining that the business of Road Safety ought to be a collective responsibility.

He requested for the inclusion of the youths in the Corps Special Marshal team, as a way of giving back to the society.

Responding, State Sector Commander of the corps, Ahmed Umah enumerated some of the challenges Officials of the corps experienced while discharging their lawful duties especially during youth-related cases.

“Enforcement of traffic laws is to protect road users and others against loss of lives. It is a minute of our task but that is the part most people see ”

“Road crashes are the leading causes of death and body injury in Nigeria. Always tell the youths that we are working for their betterment because they are the most vulnerable to road crashes” Umah posited

The corps commander advocated an Enlightenment forum for leaders of all transport Associations in the state, in a bid to educate them on relevant traffic laws.

He assured that the Corps had stopped running after traffic laws offenders, who try to escape punishment, thereby endangering the lives of other road users.

“We are going to integrate the youths too in our Ember months advocacy programme which is starting this month” He promised

On the entourage of the Governor’s Special Assistant were the Public relations Officer of ACOMORAN in the state, Aremo Agunbiade Akinlolu and Assistant Organising Secretary, of the State chapter of AMORAN, Comrade Bankole Muhammed among others
